Receive report relating to Emergency Procurement Requests for repair of the main electrical distribution gear and rental of a portable generator at the East Valley Clinic.
|Department:||Facilities and Fleet Department||Sponsors:|
Funds for the repair of the electrical main distribution gear and rental of a portable generator are available in the FAF budget.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION
On January 22, 2020, PG&E experience a sudden failure of their transformer that services the East Valley Clinic. As the day wore on, it was discovered a bus duct from the back of the transformer had also failed. While PG&E replaced their transformer that same day, the bus duct is owned by the County and is a custom part that takes weeks to fabricate and replace. Thus, a Priority Purchase Order was approved to acquire and replace the bus duct as well as to set up and operate an emergency generator to avoid a lengthy shut down of health clinic services at this location.
Pursuant to Board Policy Section 5.14.3 and County Ordinance Code statute 34-82 FAF is required to report the emergency procurement expense to the Board. The estimated total cost of the repairs and generator rental is $200,000.
